After his pole position, Hamilton feels at his zenith

No pole position has escaped Lewis Hamilton so far this season. The double world champion easily outperformed the competition in qualifying and has never seemed in a better state of mind.

Lewis Hamilton could legitimately consider himself happy with his performance in qualifying: « I feel tremendously good and very happy. It’s a fantastic feeling. That was the objective: to try to tame the track. The lap was very good because I managed to improve. I am very grateful to the whole team for entrusting me with such a racing machine, with which I can attack in every corner ».

Behind Lewis Hamilton, there is a fierce competitor with equally high spirits: Sebastian Vettel, who is rumored to be at least as fast as the Mercedes over long runs. Can he really snatch the victory from the Englishman and replicate the Malaysian feat? “They have been very fast since Friday,” admits Lewis Hamilton. “They will be really hard to beat in the race, their pace is excellent. We will do our best to make the tires last as long as possible.”

The expected heat at the beginning of the race could give Ferrari an advantage in the first stint. However, as the night progresses, the Silver Arrows should gain back competitiveness.
