Monza present on the calendar until 2020?
After the cancellation of the German Grand Prix, the next European country in jeopardy is Italy. However, a recovery plan will be implemented to save the Italian edition.

The Italian Grand Prix, facing significant challenges, could be maintained until 2020; for that, the organizers must implement a revival plan to safeguard this legendary Grand Prix. Throughout the history of F1, the Italian Grand Prix has always been held at Monza since 1950, except in 1980 when the race took place in Imola. Currently, Monza has a contract with Formula 1 until 2016.
Bernie Ecclestone stated last year that the Italian event could be dropped due to a lack of agreement. However, a new team has been formed to ensure the circuit’s continuity, among them former F1 driver Ivan Capelli, currently president of the Automobile Club of Milan. The former Ferrari driver hopes to secure a new contract, according to *Motorsport*.
During a meeting aimed at boosting the popularity of the circuit, Capelli said he now feels very optimistic and that the circuit will remain in F1 in the medium term: « As you can see, the recovery plan sets clear objectives in the short and medium term. This reinforces our determination to bring important races to Monza like the Superbike World Championship and especially in our negotiations to keep the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. With the support of institutional and private parties, we are confident we can secure a contract extension until 2020. »
Capelli also said he will meet Ecclestone during the Grand Prix weekend in Monaco.
