On the sidelines of the Putrajaya ePrix on November 22, Franck Montagny, then a Formula E driver for the Andretti Autosport team, tested positive for a cocaine derivative. The Frenchman was immediately provisionally suspended by the International Automobile Federation pending a final decision.

This decision came a few days ago as Montagny was notified of a two-year suspension by the FIA in a decision made on March 24th, taking effect from December 23, 2014, and therefore running until December 23, 2016.

The FIA Disciplinary Committee, unsurprisingly in the absence of any challenge from the Canal+ consultant, concluded there was a violation of an anti-doping rule, specifically article 2.1 of the FIA’s 2014 anti-doping regulations. In addition to the two-year suspension imposed, Montagny is retroactively disqualified from all events he participated in between November 22, 2014, and December 23, 2014, including the Putrajaya ePrix.
