Palmer at the wheel of the Lotus during FP1 in China
Jolyon Palmer will have the opportunity to make his official debut at a Formula 1 Grand Prix in two weeks in China, where he will drive the Lotus E23 Hybrid during the Free Practice 1.

Jolyon Palmer, reigning GP2 champion and reserve driver for Team Lotus this year, will have the opportunity to drive a Formula 1 car again. This time, he will do so during an official event, the Chinese Grand Prix, which will take place from April 10 to 12.
The Briton, who drove the E23 Hybrid during pre-season private testing, will be driving in Friday’s Free Practice 1 in Shanghai. He is, of course, delighted with the opportunity given to him by the Enstone team.
“I am really thrilled to be back in the car for the tests in China. It will be my first Formula 1 session during a Grand Prix weekend and I am looking forward to it. I have never driven on the Shanghai circuit, so I will have a lot of work to do beforehand, but I am sure I will be fully prepared,” Palmer stated.
The Lotus F1 team has not specified whether Romain Grosjean or Pastor Maldonado would give up their seat to the British driver in China.
