Bernie Ecclestone indicated that the Manor team would be fined 2.7 million euros for failing to race at the Australian Grand Prix.

In a race against time between the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015, Manor managed to get to Melbourne, but was unable to race due to computer issues in particular.

The CEO of the Formula One Group had already announced that he would ask the small team to pay for the freight to and from Melbourne, which is usually free for the teams participating in the championship. This, despite the fact that the FIA had indicated that Manor had done everything to participate in the season’s opening race and had passed the stewards’ checks.

In the columns of The Independent, Ecclestone explains that he will go further: « We will deduct the race they missed from the bonus. They will not receive 1/19th of the sum, and they will receive a bill for the free trip we offered them. The money they should have had will be distributed to the teams that compete. »
