Fernando Alonso is expected to fly to Malaysia to compete in the Grand Prix, which will take place from March 27 to 29.

If the driver is not yet assured of being able to slip into the seat of the MP4-30, he has, this Sunday, passed the medical tests in charge of verifying if he has fully recovered after his concussion following his accident during the private tests in Barcelona on February 22nd.

The Spanish newspapers AS and Marca indicated in the afternoon that the double world champion had undergone tests at Cambridge University to assess his short and long-term memory and reflexes and that he had received the green light from the medical team comprised of three independent experts supervised by the FIA.

His agent, Luis Garcia-Abad, questioned on the subject, however, did not want to react to this information: « It’s private, so I can’t confirm or deny that, but I have no doubt that he will go to Malaysia as planned. »

If these tests provide a first positive indication, Alonso will need to satisfy the examinations by FIA doctors in Sepang, including a new assessment of his recovery after his concussion and a test of his cognitive function, known as an impact test.
