Alonso’s Accident: No Deadline for FIA Investigation
As the investigation into Fernando Alonso's accident during the Barcelona private tests is ongoing, the FIA has stated that there is no deadline for its conclusion.

What really happened at the time of Fernando Alonso’s accident last February? The FIA’s response will not be rushed, as announced by Charlie Whiting, the Federation’s safety delegate and race director, in front of the media present in Melbourne.
On February 22, during the third day of private testing in Barcelona, the McLaren MP4-30 No. 14 went off the track at turn 3 of the Circuit de Catalunya. Hitting the inner wall, the driver suffered a significant impact resulting in a concussion, loss of consciousness, and temporary memory loss. In light of the consequences of the accident, the FIA decided to conduct an investigation.
« We are still in contact with McLaren regarding a mechanical issue, and the medical department is talking to the people who treated him at the hospital, » he explained this Thursday. « We are working with McLaren and our medical department is still gathering all the information it can. I am certainly not qualified to comment on anything related to the medical field. That’s really all I can say about it. We cannot set a deadline for this. »
While the investigation progresses, Fernando Alonso is physically preparing for his return, expected at the Malaysian Grand Prix from March 27 to 29.
