Ocon finds refuge with ART Grand Prix in GP3

Esteban Ocon waited a long time to find out what his 2015 season would look like. The Frenchman, reigning champion in the FIA F3 Euroseries, has just joined the ART Grand Prix team and will participate in the GP3 Series championship.

After securing the F3 title, Ocon had completed convincing tests in GP2, but he was expected to compete in DTM with Mercedes, which ultimately did not materialize. Last year, he drove for the Lotus F1 team during Free Practice 1 of the Abu Dhabi GP and during the young driver tests that followed the final round of the season.

The Frenchman is benefiting this year from a Pirelli scholarship to race in GP3. An important support, which was praised by Frédéric Vasseur’s team.

“I am very happy to realize this GP3 project with ART Grand Prix because it’s the one that means the most to me,” Ocon explains. “After an excellent 2014 season and considering the team’s experience and track record, my ambition is to replicate that in 2015 and win the title. There are quite a few question marks as I haven’t yet got to grips with the car, but ART Grand Prix has all the skills, data, and talent to allow me to set great goals.”

Sébastien Philippe, the Team Manager of ART Grand Prix, is pleased to have one of the most promising French drivers of the moment in his ranks. ART Grand Prix is delighted to collaborate with Esteban, who had an exceptional season in 2014. The challenge should not be underestimated because Esteban is debuting in GP3 and will need to adapt to the category’s characteristics from the very first race. But we have confidence in his talent and potential to succeed and to join the fight for the title.
