The layout of the Berlin ePrix revealed
Germany will host a Formula E race this year for the first season of this championship. The German ePrix will take place in Berlin on a track designed on the former Tempelhof International Airport, which was recently unveiled.

The track for the Berlin ePrix, which will take place on the upcoming 23rd of May, has been unveiled. The race will be held on a former airport in the German capital, Berlin-Tempelhof, which became a park two years after its closure in 2008.
The circuit has been laid out in the middle of a flat and straight area, but the 2.47-kilometer track will feature 17 turns as announced during the presentation of the DHL Berlin ePrix, which will be the 8th round of the inaugural season, as can be seen in the video below.
Alejandro Agag, the head of the championship, expressed his delight at the presentation—which was attended by two German drivers from the lineup, Daniel Abt (Audi Sport Abt) and Nick Heidfeld (Venturi)—and the upcoming race in the German capital: « We are thrilled to be in Berlin and to unveil the Formula E circuit. Berlin is one of the leading cities in Europe for innovation and sustainable mobility, and Germany is renowned for its passion for motorsport, hence our choice to host Formula E here. »
Nick Heidfeld was able to cover a first lap of the circuit in a BMW hybrid, but he is looking forward to seeing what it will be like in the race: « It will be very special to race in front of my compatriots and I am really looking forward to it. It will be the first time I race in a place like this with its own very special atmosphere. It seems like it will be a winding circuit with challenges with 17 turns in less than 2.5 kilometers, and I think the fans will have good visibility no matter where they are. »
However, two weeks before the start of the season, we still do not know if the German F1 Grand Prix will indeed take place in 2015, nor, if it does, on which circuit…
