Ferrari president Sergio Marchionne believes that the 2015 season will be challenging.

A 2014 season to forget where Ferrari did not win any races, finished on the podium twice, and ended up 4th in the Constructors’ Championship. However, Ferrari is changing its team principal as Marco Mattiacci has been replaced by Maurizio Arrivabene.

For the 2015 season, Fernando Alonso, who left for McLaren-Honda, will be replaced by Sebastian Vettel from Red Bull Renault.

Sergio Marchionne on the BBC where he believes that the 2015 season will be complicated, but also revealing:

2015 will be a difficult year and a test year that will put the team in a real situation. I think 2015 will be a year of reconstruction; it will be Maurizio [Arrivabene]’s first full year with the team. I think and hope that in the next 12 months, we will eliminate all the baggage of uncertainty that will undermine at least the initial phase of 2015.

According to the successor of Luca Di Montezemolo, the team is paying for the decisions made under the leadership of the former management:

« We are behind schedule for the 2015 car, certain choices and strategies that were made by others, in retrospect, I don’t necessarily agree with them » he said.

Despite a 2015 season that he anticipates will be challenging, Marchionne remains convinced that they can make up some of their deficit to their rivals, including Mercedes, before the end of the year.

« Part of the work has already started. We must be able to emulate their success. » Before concluding that two victories would be a success but that « If we win four races, we go to paradise »
