Red Bull Racing team director, Christian Horner, believes that Daniel Ricciardo’s strong form in 2014 helped promote Daniil Kvyat from Toro Rosso for the following season.

For his first season with Red Bull, Daniel Ricciardo managed to win three races and finished 3rd in the Drivers’ World Championship while Sebastian Vettel finished 5th in the 2014 season, not securing any victories, a first since 2007.

Christian Horner explains, as quoted by GPUpdate, that Ricciardo’s form in 2014 justifies Red Bull’s sporting policy of betting on their young talent, which was the key decision that warranted the promotion of Daniil Kvyat to Milton Keynes.

« The way he [Kvyat, for his F1 debut, Ed.] performed this year was phenomenal, he was very quick. I think what really gave us confidence was Daniel Ricciardo’s performance this year. Giving him the opportunity gives us confidence in being able to invest in young talent and trust them. That’s why we chose Kvyat. »

For the 2015 season, Christian Horner does not expect any relational problems to exist between the two drivers – as was the case in the past between Vettel and Webber, for example: The two drivers get along very well and know each other well. They are hungry and want to demonstrate their talent. They know they are driving for Red Bull, the brand, the team, and all the employees who are at Red Bull, and that comes with responsibilities.
