Horner: Red Bull wants to “give Mercedes a hard time” in 2015
After a rather complicated year in 2014, despite three victories in the nineteen races held, Red Bull Racing aims to return to the top in 2015 and thus compete more regularly at the front with Mercedes, as Christian Horner stated.

After four driver titles and four constructor titles earned between 2010 and 2013, the Red Bull Racing team saw its domination come to an end this season with the advent of a new engine, the 1.6L V6 Turbo, and the domination of the Mercedes AMG F1 team.
The Austrian team nevertheless managed to claim three victories – in Canada, Hungary, and Belgium, thanks to Daniel Ricciardo each time – thus breaking the star brand’s hegemony this year. Red Bull finishes in second place in the constructors’ championship, despite the various issues encountered, particularly with the Renault power unit at the beginning of the year.
Christian Horner believes that the resurgence of his team has been a great success, but it’s not enough, as Red Bull wants to return to the top, as he told the website Crash.net: « I don’t think the team has anything to prove. I think the team is simply hungry for new successes. »
The Brit hopes that Renault will have revised its approach in 2015 and that with an even more performant RB11 than the RB10, the Red Bull Racing team will be able to challenge Mercedes more regularly next year: « If you look at the last six years, there’s only one team that has been able to beat us and that’s a remarkable performance and achievement, especially with the regulatory changes over those years and obviously with the regulatory change on the power unit this year. Of course, everything evolves, but there is a real desire within the team to give them a hard time. »
