The Marussia team was placed in administration and then in liquidation in October due to severe financial problems. Despite this, an attempt was made—almost successful—for the British-Russian team to compete in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The administrators, the company FRP Advisory, explained that the assets of Manor Grand Prix Racing Limited – the company registered in the Formula 1 World Championship and which operated Marussia – would be auctioned in mid-December. The sale is stated as being related to the complete closure of the former headquarters of the Formula 1 team. This headquarters is located in Banbury, Great Britain.

The list of items up for auction includes, notably, the Formula 1 cars from the Marussia team (without the engines), a complete testing laboratory, a large quantity of spare parts for race days, tools, and state-of-the-art technological equipment.

At the same time, Caterham, which was also placed in administration last October, is still searching for a solution to be on the starting grid in 2015.
