Due to the absences of the Marussia and Caterham teams, the race stewards of the United States and Brazilian Grand Prix decided to revise the qualifying session format, eliminating only four cars in Q1 and four in Q2 to still have 10 cars in Q3.

This weekend in Abu Dhabi, the Caterham F1 team is back in the paddock, and the race stewards have decided to revise the qualifying format once again. On the Yas Marina circuit, there will be 5 drivers eliminated in Q1 and 5 in Q2, resulting in a total of 10 drivers for Q3, the final part of the qualifying session.

The Caterham F1 team managed to return for the final round of the 2014 Formula 1 season, thanks in particular to a crowdfunding campaign. The Marussia F1 team also hoped to be present in the United Arab Emirates, but ultimately discussions with investors did not succeed, and the Russian team is not present.
