Sauber: Van der Garde not worried following Ericsson’s appointment for 2015
Giedo van der Garde believes that the appointment of Marcus Ericsson at Sauber F1 in 2015 does not change his situation with the Swiss team. He remains confident about his chances of racing alongside the Swede next season.

Giedo van der Garde is the reserve driver for the Sauber F1 team this season and the Dutchman is frequently mentioned as a more than likely candidate for a full-time seat within the Swiss team for next season – thanks in part to the support he receives from the McGregor brand.
However, the first driver confirmed for 2015 within the Hinwil team was Marcus Ericsson, thanks in particular to the contribution of about fifteen million euros to the team’s budget, a portion of which is payable immediately.
So there is already only one seat left available at Sauber, but that doesn’t worry Giedo van der Garde as he told the Dutch channel Sport1: « It doesn’t matter to me. We are good with Sauber. They know who I am and what I can do. I think it looks good for me. I can’t say more, but I sleep well. My management is very busy and keeps me informed. For me, nothing has changed. »
The former Caterham driver also expects to hear news in the coming weeks, whether he’s appointed or not: « Will we wait until January or February? No way. It’s important that we know in the next two or three weeks. I’m sure it will be clarified soon. »
