Different Objectives for Red Bull Drivers in Austin Race

Placed almost at opposite ends of the starting grid, the Red Bull drivers do not have the same objectives for the United States Formula 1 Grand Prix. Daniel Ricciardo hopes to get ahead of the Williams and join the Mercedes on the podium, while Sebastian Vettel, who will start from the pits, hopes to climb up to finish in the points.

Sebastian Vettel will start from the pit lane tomorrow for the United States Grand Prix, but the German driver still took part in the qualifying session. However, he expects a complicated race starting far from the leaders.

« In the race tomorrow, I think we can move up. Our race pace seems good, but it will be tight, and overtaking is going to be complicated because we don’t have the ideal top speed. Hopefully, we can grab a few points tomorrow. 7th place would be a good result, » explains the hopeful Red Bull driver for the race.

On Daniel Ricciardo’s side, the objectives are very different. Indeed, the Australian managed to qualify his RB10 in 5th position this afternoon in Austin, behind the Mercedes and the Williams cars. While he considers the Silver Arrows out of reach, he believes he can fight and even surpass the Williams cars.

The native of Perth will therefore aim for a podium finish at the United States Grand Prix tomorrow: « I am quite happy with this top 5; realistically, we are fighting for the last podium place if Mercedes has a trouble-free race, and we have placed ourselves in that position. We are close to Felipe, but hopefully being on the clean side of the grid will help me a bit, so we’ll see what happens. »

I would say that we are better with the tires than the Williams, but their advantage on the straight nullifies that edge. Let’s hope we have some nice duels on the track tomorrow, the circuit clearly allows for it and offers good opportunities, so let’s hope we enjoy it!, adds Ricciardo.
