Max Verstappen, the only driver confirmed by Toro Rosso for the 2015 season, would like to see Jean-Eric Vergne by his side. The Frenchman had lost his seat to the young Dutchman, but that was before Sebastian Vettel’s decision to leave Red Bull, leading the team to appoint Daniil Kvyat to the main team.

Jean-Eric Vergne is therefore still a candidate for the second Toro Rosso seat, along with Carlos Sainz Jr, Alex Lynn, and Pierre Gasly.

« I think that for the team it’s better to have an experienced driver. So I think in the end, it would be better if Jean-Eric could stay. And, in the end, it’s also better for me because he has a lot of experience so he could help me improve as well. He is relaxed and a good person. He is friendly with me, and I really appreciate that, so hopefully we can work together next year, » explains Verstappen to Autosport.

Verstappen also believes that the Frenchman did what was necessary to deserve to stay in F1 in 2015, either with Toro Rosso or elsewhere: « I think he has a lot of talent, otherwise he would never have been in F1. So yes, he deserves [to stay in F1]. »

Besides Vergne, another driver eagerly awaits Red Bull’s decision, Carlos Sainz Jr, who won the title in the Formula Renault 3.5 championship by breaking the record for youth, victories, and fastest laps. “After what I achieved this year, there is no other alternative for me than Formula 1. Unfortunately, we are still waiting. [The decision] will come in a month or a bit more, when the Formula 1 season ends. But I would like to have the information as soon as possible, whether it is good or bad news, because it’s a tough situation,” the Spanish driver told *Marca*.
