Alonso will leave Ferrari at the end of the season according to Montezemolo
Luca di Montezemolo indicated, Wednesday evening, that Fernando Alonso will indeed leave Ferrari at the end of the 2014 season.

For several weeks, rumors have been persistent about Fernando Alonso. Despite being under contract with Scuderia Ferrari until the end of the 2016 season, he is said to have desires to move elsewhere.
The context around the Spaniard was strengthened during the Japanese Grand Prix, during which Red Bull announced the departure of Sebastian Vettel, with Christian Horner indicating that the four-time World Champion’s destination would be Maranello.
Last night, on the show “Porta a Porta” on Rai 1, former Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo stated that Fernando Alonso will indeed leave Ferrari at the end of the year: “Fernando is leaving for two reasons,” he explained. “First, he wants a different environment. Second, because he is at an age where he does not want to wait any longer to win again.”
The double world champion with Renault is said to have requested to be released from his contract during the summer. Luca di Montezemolo is reported to have negotiated the terms of this separation before being replaced by Sergio Marchionne.
At Ferrari since 2010, Alonso has secured 11 victories and finished as world runner-up, missing the title by a few points each time, in 2010 and 2012. He was disappointed not to have won in recent years and wanted a new challenge.
