Alex Lynn on Toro Rosso’s shortlist to succeed Daniil Kvyat
Alex Lynn hopes to get the vacant seat at Toro Rosso in 2015, but as Franz Tost summed it up, only Red Bull will decide who will go to the Italian team.

Daniil Kvyat moving from Toro Rosso to Red Bull in 2015 leaves a vacant seat alongside Max Verstappen. Alex Lynn, a member of the Red Bull Junior Team since this year after Helmut Marko noticed him at the Macau Grand Prix in 2013, is in contention to succeed the Russian. The young English driver, aged 21, is on the verge of winning the GP3 Series title.
Lynn wants to follow the same path as Daniil Kvyat, who went from the GP3 title in 2013 to Toro Rosso in 2014, as he told Sky Sports F1: “I hope so [imitate Kvyat], I hope I’m doing enough to impress my bosses, Dr. Marko who is in the other paddock. I hope he’s watching and sees that I’m doing a good job. I know winning the championship will be a good argument.”
Franz Tost spoke about the possible successors to Daniil Kvyat during Saturday’s FIA press conference: « There are other drivers. We have Jean-Éric Vergne, who is an experienced driver, we have Carlos Sainz Jr, but also Pierre Gasly and Alex Lynn. Carlos Sainz Jr is not our only option. Fortunately, Red Bull has many very fast drivers, highly qualified to become a quality driver at Toro Rosso. A decision will be made in the coming weeks by Red Bull, who will decide who will come to us. »
