While the transfer market is slow to open up despite the announcement of Sebastian Vettel’s departure from Red Bull, some rumors have suggested a possible departure of Lewis Hamilton from the Mercedes AMG team.

But the current leader in the World Drivers’ Championship was keen to silence the rumors. He stated on Twitter: « I am focused on one thing and one thing only right now… Winning this championship!! I am 100% committed to Mercedes AMG F1. »

The 2008 world champion spoke in more detail to Sky Sports F1 about these transfer rumors: « I think it’s an interesting time in F1. Ferrari is making its changes, the best drivers are changing teams, there are a lot of rumors and silly stories going around. As for these rumors, I’ve gotten used to them, but I want to be clear, I’m committed to Mercedes until the end of next year. »

A rumor has started to emerge in the Sochi paddock: if Lewis Hamilton or Nico Rosberg fails to become world champion, they could leave for other ventures, with the English driver currently holding a 10-point lead over his German teammate.

Last week, Niki Lauda also revealed that the English driver would stay in Brackley: « With Lewis, we are negotiating to renew his contract after 2015. We are in the process of negotiating his contract extension, we are all happy, everyone is happy with what happened. We will talk about the future together. »

Regarding McLaren, even though many drivers have been mentioned by some observers, their driver duo has still not been announced for next year.
