Friday: The Toro Rossos performing well with Kvyat and Vergne
The Italian F1 team of Kvyat and Vergne proved to be very competitive in Sochi, even more than the Red Bull team. The Small Scuderia never left the top 10 during both sessions and can legitimately hope for good performances in qualifying tomorrow.

Daniil Kvyat (No.26) – 7th and 8th
The only Russian national to race on Sunday was a prophet in his own country, finishing in the top 10 twice by outperforming his teammate each time. The Toro Rosso can even improve further according to him: Even though our performances today are already very promising, we can fortunately make a good step forward for tomorrow and show even better. I had a good feeling with the car, which seems really promising here. It was great to finally race here, and I had a lot of fun driving on this nice circuit.
Jean-Eric Vergne (#25) – 9th and 10th
Even though he was twice outpaced by the future Red Bull driver, Jean-Eric Vergne can count on a promising Toro Rosso on this new Sochi track. Only one shadow remains: understanding the Pirellis. It was a productive Friday. The team did a great job by arriving here with a car that was immediately set up for the new circuit. I think we had a good car today, but we didn’t get the most out of the tires. We still have work to do tonight to understand their behavior to be faster tomorrow.
