A Formula E ePrix in Montreal starting in 2016?
The mayor of the city of Montreal has expressed his intention to organize a Formula E ePrix in the coming years. He is aiming for 2017—for the city's 375th anniversary—but does not rule out that things could be finalized earlier, as soon as 2016.

Montreal could host a round of the Formula E World Championship in 2016. Indeed, Denis Coderre, the mayor of the Canadian city, which already hosts the Canadian Grand Prix of Formula 1, would like to see his city organize a round of this brand-new 100% electric single-seater championship.
« I really like the concept. We can demonstrate how we can have green technology and an event that will capture the imagination. We had a big handshake. We need to look at the business plan. We had an agreement in principle. They say: if you’re ready, we’re ready, » explains Denis Coderre quoted by La Presse.
The first ePrix in history took place on September 13 in Beijing and was won by Lucas di Grassi (Audi Sport ABT). And while only 9 out of the 10 planned destinations for the first season are known, the championship is already attracting admirers.
Denis Coderre has expressed his desire to organize more large-scale events in the city of Montreal and to highlight the environment, hence his wish to see a Formula E race take place in the streets of Montreal in the coming years, ideally in 2017 for the city’s 375th anniversary, but he does not rule out the possibility of things materializing sooner, as early as 2016.
Unlike Formula 1, the race would take place in an urban environment, meaning on the city streets and not on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit that hosts F1.
