Marcus Ericsson close to being retained by Caterham for 2015
Marcus Ericsson is close to doing a second season at Leadfield. According to Manfredi Ravetto, it all depends on him, moreover, Caterham is in discussions to decide if Kamui Kobayashi will be lined up for the Japanese GP.

The Swedish Caterham driver, Marcus Ericsson, seems ready to stay with Caterham according to the team’s boss Manfredi Ravetto, who is ready to retain him for the 2015 season. During the Singapore Grand Prix, the Swedish driver finished 15th, and for the boss of the Anglo-Malaysian team, this result is excellent news.
« I saw a competitive Ericsson in Singapore who had his best race of the season. He managed superbly to keep the two Marussias behind him and had a truly fantastic race on a very difficult track. We are really very pleased with the progress he has made, and we are ready to extend his contract for the next season, » explains Ravetto to Autosport.
The successor of Christijan Albers continues by saying that discussions have begun with his entourage: « We have started talking to his entourage and sponsors because this year, the team has invested in the development of its rookie. Next year, we will be happy to have him in our car again and see the fruit of that investment, rather than taking someone else. »
If the official appointment of Marcus Ericsson seems confirmed, Kamui Kobayashi’s future is becoming uncertain, as the Japanese driver is not sure of racing at his home Grand Prix: « We haven’t made a decision yet on whether he will race or not. The choice of driver is very sensitive, and I need to listen to the advice and influence of many people in this regard. It is not the decision of one person. »
In the constructors’ standings, Caterham is in the last position tied with Sauber. Among the drivers, Marcus Ericsson is currently in 18th place and Kamui Kobayashi in 20th.
