Official: Canal+ will broadcast Formula E in France
Already the exclusive broadcaster of Formula 1 in France, Canal+ has obtained the rights to broadcast live races of the Formula E championship, which will begin in September.

After Formula 1, GP2, and WRC, Canal+ will broadcast a new category of motorsport on its channels: Formula E, which will feature electric-powered single-seaters.
The agreement, concluded with the company MP & Silva, the rights holder, will allow the Canal + group to broadcast all the races of the 2014-2015, 2015-2016, and 2016-2017 seasons of the new category created by the FIA. The statement published on the official site of the discipline indicates that the encrypted channel will have the exclusive broadcasting rights for the entire France as well as Andorra and Monaco. In addition to this live coverage, Canal + will schedule a show reviewing the races, similar to “Formula One” regarding the Grand Prix of the premier discipline.
Cyril Linette, the sports director for the Canal group, expressed satisfaction with this new acquisition: “We are very happy to be part of this new auto racing series. This new competition in the heart of major cities is a huge opportunity to create a new and exciting live spectacle for our subscribers, as we already do with Formula 1 and WRC. Canal+ is definitely the channel for motorsport in France!”
A priori, as with the WRC or GP2, it is the channel from the CanalSat satellite package, Sport +, that will broadcast Formula E.
