Present in Formula 1 since 2000, Jenson Button does not want to race in categories other than F1 and claims he wishes to continue his career with McLaren. The Englishman has expressed his desire to stay beyond the current season with the Woking team, but for now, the team does not know if they will retain the 2009 world champion alongside Kevin Magnussen for the 2015 season.

The McLaren executives are questioning the performance of the former Honda driver, and they are unsure if he will be able to continue beyond 2015. The former Brawn GP driver does not want to leave the world of F1, arguing, as quoted by *Autosport*, that he is still capable of being competitive: « At the moment, my interest is in racing in F1. You have a tough day and it really hurts because you want to be competitive and fight, but then you have a good qualifying session and you’re on the right track. You always want to race for life. In F1, emotions are everywhere – there are ups and downs. I’ve lived my life like this for a long time and I want to continue living like this. I’m young and fast and I love what I do in life, and I don’t want that to change. »

Even though uncertainty still looms over the identity of McLaren’s drivers for 2015, Eric Boullier, the team’s racing director, expressed to Autosport that he is happy with his pair of drivers for the moment.

The Frenchman acknowledges the performances this year, and past, of the Briton: « Jenson knows that the important thing is to score as many points as possible. He doesn’t have to prove anything because he is a world champion and has won many races for McLaren. »

But Eric Boullier also knows that he must already start preparing for the future, which might involve bringing in new blood to the team: « I think we also need to be realistic, because in one, two, or three years, we might need to renew our driver duo, and of course we will have the best drivers at that time. »
