Alexander Rossi satisfied to have bounced back with Marussia F1

Alexander Rossi joined the Caterham F1 team in March 2012 as a test driver, allowing him to take part in four FP1 sessions during Grand Prix and participate in the young driver tests in 2013. However, following the arrival of new investors at Caterham, the American decided to look elsewhere by joining Marussia.

Rossi admitted to *Autosport* that he feared being quickly forgotten in the paddock following this departure, but that was before finding refuge with the Russian team Marussia: « It was essential. Mainly because I don’t want to be seen as being out of Formula 1, getting engaged with Marussia so quickly before the summer break was critical. I thought I had everything going for me and if I hadn’t gotten this deal, there could have been a loss of interest and confidence. So the fact that it happened, in my opinion, erases all the negativity, not just from the past few weeks, but from the past few years. »

He is optimistic about his future: « This is a new chapter for me and I can’t wait to get in the car at Spa to show what I’m capable of. I think the future looks very promising at Marussia. »

The American driver will therefore be back in an F1 very soon and even though he does not yet know how many other sessions he will participate in, he remains optimistic: « Surely more than the two I was supposed to do with Caterham. »

Rossi stated that he will certainly be in a better position and that his new contract will give him a better chance to showcase his ability.

To be honest, I haven’t been really thrilled with the last two years of my career. I think it could have gone much better, but circumstances prevented us from achieving the results I believe I deserved. Teams saw my potential and that I was on the market, so it was a relief [to rebound with Marussia]. But as long as you haven’t been contacted, there’s an element of uncertainty, so I’m really grateful.
