Daniel Ricciardo astonishes everyone this season with an incredible race, once again beating the Mercedes cars with several race incidents, including two safety car interventions.

« I knew I had to make a quick overtake. It was my only chance and it worked, » he mentions to Marca about his overtake against Lewis Hamilton on the 66th lap.

As usual, the Red Bull driver sported his smile after winning the race held on the Hungaroring circuit. The safety car helped the Australian in the race to finish ahead of Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton.

« I feel so good, it’s as good as the first time I won, » he expressed happily.

The Red Bull driver reflects on the impact of the safety cars: The first safety car gave us a lot of advantage. The second safety car didn’t help us much but we managed to achieve the essential. I had to take risks, push forward, and it was fun.

Thanks to the lead he had built, it allowed him to overtake Lewis Hamilton through tire management while Fernando Alonso’s tires were very worn: « I knew I had to make a quick overtake, it was my only chance and it worked ».

Thanks to this new victory, Ricciardo is the only driver to have broken the invincibility of the German cars: « I feel in incredible shape, I am the only one to have beaten the Mercedes. Someone had to do it, and I did it. »

Daniel Ricciardo is currently 3rd in the World Drivers’ Championship with a 60-point gap to Lewis Hamilton.
