Alonso: Improve Ferrari before discussing a new contract
The double Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso believes it is crucial to improve Ferrari's performance rather than discussing a new contract that expires in 2016 from Maranello. He also requests that Marco Mattiacci be supported by Ferrari's management.

The lack of competitiveness of the F-14 T frustrates the former Renault driver currently in 4th place in the world drivers’ championship with 87 points.
Last year, the Spaniard was exasperated by the lack of competitiveness of his equipment while Red Bull outrageously dominated the championship, which earned him a reprimand from Luca di Montezemolo during the Hungarian Grand Prix.
However, Alonso is a man who remains highly appreciated in the paddock. McLaren is an announced candidate for his signature, but the Ferrari driver wants to help his team regain its former glory instead of thinking about his sporting future.
« I don’t think too long-term, as there are bigger priorities at the moment, » Alonso said during the British weekend about a possible renewal with Ferrari.
For *Autosport*, he demonstrates his determination to persevere within the team when he talks about his future: « I want to help the team and aim to score as many points as possible. We need to put in maximum effort, focus, and work as a team to improve the car next year. My future after 2016 is not the main priority at the moment, but we will try to see what the best solution is ».
In this context, the Asturian driver asks Ferrari to support Marco Mattiacci in the restructuring of the team.
« There is nothing else to do but work hard and have faith in the changes of the team. There is always a program to follow, a direction to take, sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bad, but we must stay together and have faith in the direction that Mattiacci […] believes to be the best. »
