Romain Grosjean expects to bounce back in Austria
The Frenchman remains on a series of two difficult races but hopes that the Lotus E22 will perform better on the Red Bull Ring circuit.

Traditional media frenzy in front of the Lotus stand. Romain Grosjean is surrounded by a flock of cameras and microphones. The Frenchman is still popular, despite Lotus’s poor start to the season. The Spanish Grand Prix, however, gave the impression of a revival for the black and gold team, which quickly faded in Monaco and Canada.
Don’t talk about relapse to Romain Grosjean! “It’s you, the media, who say that!” he says with a smile. In China and Spain, we were heading in the right direction. In Monaco and Canada, it was tougher. It was in Monaco that there was a warning signal. The car clearly needed improvement. He attributes the drop in performance to the peculiarities of the Monaco and Canadian tracks.
It could therefore improve as soon as this weekend at the Red Bull Ring, a circuit he knows neither from Eve nor Adam. We are going to discover the track. There are some interesting corners. It’s a beautiful place, and we should have good weather. But maybe not a lot of overtaking. We shouldn’t expect it to be like in Bahrain! It should be more like a race at Silverstone. Turn 1 should be the only overtaking opportunity, unlike Turn 2. It’s really uphill, and the braking is very short. That’s why they didn’t put a DRS zone there, I think.
The hilly Spielberg circuit might be a good opportunity for him to bring Lotus a bit closer to the top, which they haven’t reached since the start of the season.
