« We will work hard starting Thursday morning » said Kimi Räikkönen regarding the Monaco Grand Prix taking place this weekend.

The former Lotus F1 driver is aware that it will be difficult to drive in Monaco with new cars. The Finn believes it will be a learning experience, to be discovered on Thursday morning, to see how the car will behave. However, he believes that the results will follow if they double their efforts.

The current 12th in the world drivers’ championship expects a complicated yet exciting race: « Especially this season, with the new car regulations, you can expect a particularly exciting race. These new cars tend to skid easily and in Monaco, there isn’t much room for sliding off the racing line. It will be a demanding track because you have to give it your all from the 1st to the 78th lap. It’s difficult to get things right here, but it’s fully satisfying when everything goes in the right direction. »

The Finn knows that a good starting grid position will be important to achieve; he is also aware that it is very difficult to overtake in Monaco: « The ranking can have a big effect on the result, we will do everything possible to be as high as possible on the starting grid. »

He also reflects on the private tests in Spain: « After the last race we were in Barcelona to participate in the private tests, which were rather positive. At the beginning we had some problems, but in the end I can say that I was satisfied with the work we managed to accomplish. The F14-T is improving, I’m sure that step by step the results will come, but we must work harder than ever. »

Kimi measures the difficulties in the principality: « Monaco is a challenging race, right from Thursday morning. It is essential not to waste time during free practice and to do as many laps as possible to understand how the car functions. »
