Ferrari would like to recruit Adrian Newey
In difficulty during this 2014 season, Scuderia Ferrari reportedly made an offer to Adrian Newey according to the British press.

The current technical director of the Red Bull Racing team, Adrian Newey, is coveted by one of the biggest Formula 1 teams, Ferrari, which has been starved of victories for over a year.
« Ferrari wants Adrian Newey, I don’t know if they’ve spoken to him yet, but I think they will, » says a source close to the Italian team to the Guardian.
As a reminder, in 2010 Adrian Newey had already been approached by the Maranello team. Currently, Ferrari cannot find the keys, Kimi Räikkönen is in 11th place in the drivers’ championship, with only 17 points in 5 races, while Alonso no longer seems to be in favor at Maranello.
The car seems to be a problem for most observers. While the new regulations were supposed to shake things up, it’s Mercedes that holds all the cards. During the 2014 Spanish Grand Prix, Ferrari was a second and a half behind Mercedes.
Christian Horner, director of the Red Bull team, commented on the situation of the English engineer: « There are always rumors, aren’t there? It’s the famous ‘silly season’. We are all under contract, so at some point, I will have to think about the future, but for now, I am focusing on catching up with the Silver Arrows. »
« Every year, there is speculation about Adrian’s future, but he has been very clear about his feelings towards the team. For us, Adrian is a father figure in the team, he is much more involved than he has been, he appreciates the environment in which he works. »
« However, you can understand why Ferrari would be looking for an engineer, as Adrian always needs a challenge. »
The engineer of the Austrian team earns 10 million pounds a year, Ferrari would offer him even more in Maranello, but the Englishman is not interested in money. Adrian Newey wishes to have freedom, two years ago he stated: « Ferrari is a great team, many drivers end up succumbing to the romance of the Scuderia, but as for me, I will not go to Ferrari. One of the reasons is that my family is in England and being involved with Red Bull from the beginning has been very rewarding. I don’t want to work anywhere else in F1. »
Michael Brundle, former McLaren driver, advises the Reds to sign him: « If I were Ferrari, I would do everything to sign Newey, the worst that could happen is to destabilize Red Bull. »
