Since his skiing accident at the Méribel resort on December 29, Michael Schumacher has been hospitalized at the Grenoble University Hospital with brain injuries. After three months in a coma, the former Ferrari and Mercedes driver seems to be gradually recovering from his injuries.

Sabine Kehm, his manager, is the official spokesperson for the family and the only reliable source of information on the health status of the triple world champion, apart from the medical team. He shows small signs of progress. There are moments when he is awake, and others when he is conscious, she just announced to the German TV channel ARD.

She explains the distinction between consciousness and wakefulness: « Of course, I am not a doctor, but medically, there is a distinction between being awake and being conscious. The latter means being able to interact with one’s environment. » Sabine Kehm will not say more. « I do not want to reveal details without the family’s consent, but we have no doubt about the ability of the doctors taking care of Michael. They are experts in the field (neurosurgery ed.). »

For the moment, no reliable medical prognosis is possible given the severity of the brain injuries. Sabine Kehm also emphasizes that interactions with Michael Schumacher are very limited.

She finally notes that the family has been moved by the outpouring of tributes and support from Michael Schumacher’s fans, but the media speculation, particularly from Germany, has caused anxiety for the family. What upsets the family the most are the media citing doctors who are not treating Michael and the falsehoods built from that.
