We suspected it for a few days and it’s now official: Eric Boullier joins McLaren as race director.

« Eric is one of the most competent leaders in Formula 1. He played an important role in the recent successes of Lotus F1 and brings with him competitive experience, having held key positions in the World Series by Nissan as well as in A1 GP before arriving in Formula 1, » as stated in a press release published by the British team.

Eric Boullier, for his part, is very honored to have been chosen by McLaren: « First, I take this appointment as an honor, a privilege, and an exceptional opportunity. McLaren’s manpower and its factory are world-class, and I am very excited to join such a team. I am determined to play an active role alongside other senior managers and directors within a new structure. »

This transfer is undoubtedly the result of Ron Dennis’s clear intention to make McLaren a team that wins races and especially championships: « Eric’s involvement is an integral part of a restructuring within McLaren Racing. In due course, we will announce the identity of the new chief executive of McLaren who will report to me and to whom Eric will report. I am confident that once the restructuring is in place, we will begin our progress towards regaining our competitiveness. »
