Saturday: Vettel and Red Bull in orbit!

As expected, Sebastian Vettel secured pole position this Saturday at Buddh. The German distances the competition by more than 7 tenths and is ideally positioned to clinch his fourth world title in the best possible way: with a victory. Mark Webber, however, will be one to watch with a different strategy than that chosen by his team leader.

Sebastian Vettel – 1st and 1st:

« The car performed well all weekend and got better and better as the track improved. The car was incredible; it’s an awesome circuit. I really love the way the corners flow, especially the middle of the second sector with the fast corners. If the car behaves as you want in this part, then you’ll enjoy it, which is what we did today. It’s a great result for the team. Mark is on a different strategy, so we’ll see how the race unfolds tomorrow. We’ve had a lot of questions about the championship throughout the weekend, but we’ll continue to do what we’ve done before, just focus on each thing, and we’re not going to change that tomorrow or in the upcoming races. We’ve worked hard to get here, and tomorrow’s race will be long. With the strategy, I think it’s always tricky to get things right, but we have a good package, and we should be in good shape. »

Mark Webber – 2nd and 4th:

We thought it was worth trying something a little different with the strategy today, which is why we ran in Q3 with the medium tires. We thought we would be a bit further back than the second row, to be honest, so it’s a good session for us. It’s not easy to manage the mediums when you have to preserve them in Q3, but I think we did a good job. We are in a good position to capitalize on a different approach tomorrow. The soft tires (used by the top three cars) shouldn’t last very long, and we will be on a different strategy. That said, I still have to use the softs in the race at some point, we’ll see.
