Friday: Everything is smooth at Toro Rosso
After a difficult weekend in Korea last week, the Toro Rosso team is smiling again in Suzuka. The car driven by Ricciardo and Vergne was much faster this Friday, which is a good sign for the future.
Daniel Ricciardo – 10th and 7th:
« I have been hoping for a Friday like this for a while, even though it’s obviously Saturday and Sunday that really matter. I’m happy to have been 10th this morning and 7th in the afternoon, which is a good sign for us. It’s a complicated circuit, and I like it a lot. Today we made progress with every change made to the car. On my long runs on mediums, it started well before I got stuck in traffic, but overall the pace didn’t seem too bad, it’s definitely a good Friday. »
Jean-Eric Vergne – 13th and 12th:
« It was a trouble-free Friday and we worked on our usual program, working on the car’s setup and balance. I have to say that I’m not completely satisfied yet mainly because of the understeer. However, it’s an encouraging day. I did long runs on both types of tires and even though I don’t have a precise idea regarding the hards, the mediums were good. »
