The Alfa Romeo driver has been included in the entry list for the post-season tests at Suzuka, which will take place from December 6th to 8th and will include a dedicated rookie-only race day. The eligibility of rookie drivers is subject to similar parameters as Formula 1’s official young driver test sessions.

Théo Pourchaire, who is expected to move up to Super Formula next year after winning the F2 championship this year with ART, will be driving for the Toyota Impul team during the first two days of testing. To do so, he will be piloting the SF23 car number 19 alongside Danish driver Oliver Rasmussen, who was recently named the lead driver for Jota’s expansion into a second customer Porsche 963 in the World Endurance Championship.

Impul, who won the team championship in 2021, could have up to two seats available next year, as Ryo Hirakawa is leaving Super Formula to focus on his commitments in WEC and Formula 1 with Toyota and McLaren respectively, and Yuhi Sekiguchi is expected to leave the team after a disappointing 2023 season.

The Super Formula trials will also allow another former F2 driver to get his bearings, as Ayumu Iwasa will be present with Mugen, the team for which he will race next year in place of Liam Lawson. In fact, the Japanese driver has already been able to test his car this weekend as part of the Honda Thanks Day organized in Motegi.
