Stefano Domenicali hopes to see Jules Bianchi drive for Ferrari

Author of a very solid start to the season, Jules Bianchi is not a driver to put the cart before the horse. Thus, as a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, the Frenchman did not hide his ambition to drive for the Rossa one day but kept his feet on the ground: “Yes, I think that every driver, when he is in Formula 1, is one of the best drivers in the world and can therefore end up with a leading team like Ferrari. I think you only need more experience when you are young.” And the Nice native added: “I am with Marussia at the moment, I want to do a good job for them and then […] we will see what happens next year, but I would be happy to stay with Marussia.”

Far from going unnoticed, Jules Bianchi’s beginnings with the Anglo-Russian team delight Stefano Domenicali, who does not hide the ambitions he has for the Frenchman: “I am very happy because Jules has had three perfect races and I hope he continues like this. I think he has a bright future in Formula 1,” comments the director of Scuderia on RMC. The Italian also opened the doors of Maranello to Bianchi: “I don’t know about next year, but in the future, yes, of course [Jules Bianchi will have his chance with Ferrari], I hope so since he is part of our young driver program.”

In the meantime, Domenicali will continue to monitor the evolution of the Scuderia’s protégé at Marussia, or even elsewhere: « I hope he can maintain this pace because I am sure he will show his potential, not only with his team but also with other teams in the future, » he confided to Autosport ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix.

For his part, the Frenchman, who continues to train in Maranello although, for obvious reasons, he does not have access to the Scuderia’s simulator, states to Autosport: « They continue to look out for me because I am a Ferrari driver. It’s very important for me to perform well and show them that they made the right choice by betting on me. »
