Stephanie Carlin joins McLaren F1 as Director of Commercial Operations
McLaren has announced that Stephanie Carlin will join the team as Formula 1 Commercial Operations Director starting from next January.

Stéphanie Carlin was the director of the Formula 3 team and the Rodin Carlin F1 Academy, and she fulfilled a similar role within the X44 team in Extreme E. She will oversee a series of activities in support of McLaren’s F1 operations. Her position will also include McLaren’s participation in the 2024 F1 Academy season. She will start in January and report directly to McLaren team director, Andrea Stella.
Carlin is well-known in international circles of motorsport, having worked in various championships before moving into a managerial position. After working in the press and marketing, she became the commercial director at Carlin in 2011, which is led by her husband Trevor Carlin.
In May 2022, she assumed the role of deputy team principal and took on the specific responsibility of leading the team’s efforts in several series. She continued to hold this position at the beginning of last year when Carlin partnered with the New Zealand automotive manufacturer Rodin.
Throughout last year, the team participated in the British F4, FIA F3, and FIA F2 championships alongside the British GB3, and also made their debut in the F1 Academy and Spanish F4. The team announced on their social media channels regarding Stéphanie’s departure. « We can confirm that Stéphanie will be leaving us next month to take on a new role at McLaren. Stéphanie is a leading woman in motorsport, and although we are naturally sad to see her go, we are incredibly proud of her and excited to see her thrive in her new role. »
Carlin is one of the most successful racing teams outside of Formula 1, having achieved over 470 race victories and 30 championships since 1999 in F4, F3, F2, Indy Lights, IndyCar, ELMS, and Asian Le Mans Series. This team has helped promote over 30 drivers to Formula 1.
Lando Norris is well acquainted with Carlin, having successfully raced for the team in junior categories. He spent two years in F3 with the team, winning races in British F3 in 2016 before becoming the FIA European F3 champion in 2017. He then secured second place with the team in F2 in 2018.
