Sunday: Fourth consecutive victory for Vettel and Red Bull

The Red Bull-Vettel recital continues with the fourth consecutive victory for the Austrian-German association, the third while leading every lap. This success, which, apart from a few sparks flying from the RB8 of the double reigning World Champion towards the end of the race, was undisputed, marking the 150th Grand Prix win for a Renault engine. Mark Webber, on the other hand, faced KERS issues that prevented him from taking the second step of the podium, which went to Fernando Alonso.

Sebastian Vettel – Winner:

Overall, it was a very good race for us, and I am happy with the result. I got a good start, Mark got a better one, and it was tight at the first corner, but I exited turn 3 well and stayed ahead. I was able to build a significant gap. I felt good on the Soft tires and was competitive. I could have stayed on track even longer, I think, but at some point, you must protect yourself. McLaren and Ferrari were fast on the Hard tires today, so it was important to have a gap with them. I saw a few sparks coming from the car at the end, but we saw many cars doing that this weekend, and we joined them. It was a great day for us and an important step.

Mark Webber – 3rd:

« We had a KERS problem that we had to manage. It may be difficult for people watching us to understand what impact it has on the car, its power on the straights obviously, but also the management of brake balance and that kind of thing. The guys were trying to help me recover the KERS and were talking to me on the radio. Additionally, when you do a one-stop race, there is always a chance to lock up the front right wheel. Since the front tires are very important, you have to monitor them, which affects the pace a bit, but I tried to stay as relaxed as possible. Overall, I’m quite happy with my driving; we should have finished higher, but that’s how it is today. »
