What a long break it has been! But these five weeks of waiting end this weekend, at one of the jewels of the championship: the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. The Belgian track, considered by many drivers as the most beautiful circuit on the calendar, precedes in the chronology of this 2012 season another bold feature in the form of Monza, where the F1 Circus will head next week. And to think that after the Italian race, there will still be 7 events left to compete in!

At the start of this second part of the season, it’s Fernando Alonso – something few would have bet on at the beginning of the season – who is leading the drivers’ standings quite comfortably, with a 40-point lead over Mark Webber and 42 over Sebastian Vettel, the double reigning champion. Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Räikkönen are also in the fight for the championship, with Lotus still searching for its first victory this season. In short, the battle is still very much alive in this 2012 championship.

As in 2011, Motorsinside.com will offer you the opportunity to follow the qualifying sessions live with interactive text throughout the 2012 season.
