Sunday: Marussia happy to show its progress thanks to Pic

Still eleventh and the second-to-last team in the championship, the Marussia team leaves Hungary with a smile due to the feeling of having made a big step forward thanks to the package introduced at Silverstone. Thus, Charles Pic was able to finish closer than ever to a Caterham. As for Timo Glock, he struggled with chronic rear-end instability issues on his MR01.

Charles Pic – 20th:

I am very happy to finish the first half of my first season in this way and to achieve the goals I set for myself. The race didn’t start off so well, as I once again got a bad start, so we need to look at and correct that for the future because it’s another factor that can help us progress in racing. After that, the race pace was very good and I am happy that our performance compared to Caterham is now more clearly visible, especially compared to the battle I had with Petrov. We are now heading for a long break where I will have the chance to reflect on the start of the season and see what we can do next. I would like to thank not only my engineers and the car team but also the entire team for this happy start to my career. It hasn’t been easy for the team but we are making real progress. I wish everyone a good rest during the holidays and I look forward to returning to the fight at the Belgian Grand Prix in four weeks. [The Belgian Grand Prix is actually in five weeks, editor’s note]

Timo Glock – 21st:

« Another race to forget for me, a bit like Hockenheim. I had neither the pace nor the balance in the car from the start. Despite this, I was still faster in the first two laps but then experienced instability in my rear train again. I suddenly lost the car under braking and couldn’t recover it. I spun and ended up behind the HRTs and struggled a lot with the balance. I don’t know what the problem is at the moment, but I think it’s the right time for a break. My thanks to the team for the hard work to try and resolve my car issues, and I wish them a good holiday. I hope we can come back to have a better second half of the season together. »
