Friday: the Toro Rosso are not fast enough
To its great chagrin, Toro Rosso continues its momentum from Canada by not being able to participate in the fierce battle for honorable positions. The STR7 is simply not fast enough, although it is hoped that a few changes will suffice to aim for better on Saturday.

Daniel Ricciardo – 19th and 18th:
« The track was rather dirty this morning, with some papers brought by a strong wind, but it improved throughout the afternoon. Moreover, the wind affected the car in some braking zones when it was behind us. As for the car, when I was driving in a qualifying configuration, we seemed to be lacking a bit of performance. During my long stint at the end of the second session with more fuel on board, I felt the car was much better, which was positive. Therefore, we need to improve the car with less fuel on board, and I think we have an idea to achieve that, so we will now study the data and build a plan for this Saturday. I am confident that tomorrow, we can gain a few positions from where we are. »
Jean-Eric Vergne – 18th and 20th:
« I raced here before, a few years ago in GP3. Of course, it’s a very different circuit from the cockpit of a Formula 1 car, but at least I had an idea of what to expect. We’ve worked a lot on the settings, trying adjustments related to the exhausts that were used by Daniel in Montreal. Overall, we need more speed and a few tenths off our times because we are not fast enough. I think if we make some small improvements in certain areas, we can find a better rhythm tomorrow. »
