Friday: Reliability slows Marussia

This Friday proved to be complicated for Marussia. In addition to an MR01 that was not comfortable on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit, Charles Pic had his running limited by brake problems. The Russian team hopes to show a different face this Saturday.

Timo Glock – 23rd and 22nd

It was a difficult start in Montreal for us. The car’s performance wasn’t perfect. We tried to evaluate our level of downforce during Free Practice 1, but overall, it turned out to be quite difficult since the track had very little rubbering in at the start this morning.

In Free Practice 2, we again tried some changes in the settings. I made a small mistake going into turn 1, where I spun.

I think that we are not on our best track here, but we have to try to overcome our difficulties. The instability during braking is still a problem here. The other teams seem pretty strong, so I think we have a challenging weekend ahead of us. Now, we need to work hard tonight to get the car in better shape and see what we can do tomorrow.

Charles Pic – 24th and 24th

A difficult start to the weekend on a circuit that is new to me. In these circumstances, you hope for more stable conditions than those we encountered, but we kept our focus and completed our evaluation program, which turned out to be positive.

This afternoon, in drier conditions, we had a problem with the brakes, so we had to change them. The team worked very hard so I could get back on track for the last ten minutes of the session, thanks to them for that.

We hope for a dry track for the rest of the weekend so we can start making up for the time lost today.
