Alonso supports Massa in his progress
Before the Monaco Grand Prix, rumors were rife about a possible replacement of Felipe Massa at Ferrari before the end of the season. The good performance by the Brazilian on the Monaco track silenced some critics, and his teammate, Fernando Alonso, encourages him to continue on this upward trajectory.
Felipe Massa reminded everyone of his abilities at the Monaco Grand Prix, where his sixth place and lap times very close to his teammate’s brought a smile back to his face. Fernando Alonso has always believed that the Brazilian was capable of bouncing back: « It’s hard to think that Felipe won’t score points, earn podiums, and fight for victory in the second half of the year. I’ve repeated a thousand times that he has the talent to do it. »
The Spaniard thinks he knows why his teammate’s start to the season was so difficult: « It has been an unfortunate start to the year for him due to a number of reasons: bad luck, a slightly slower adaptation to the new tires than usual… the results he was getting were not normal for him. »
Of course, Fernando Alonso fully supports Massa, who will be an important ally in the race for the title in both championships, drivers and constructors: « He has all my support and the team’s support to change the situation. Often, in testing and qualifying, his times are very close to mine…and then something happens. In Monaco, things seem to have changed for him; I hope this will last. More than talent and pure speed, it’s the results that need to change for Felipe. »
