Many people in the F1 microcosm do not believe the reassuring speech given by Jean Todt, Bernie Ecclestone, and local authorities. Consequently, some media outlets have already announced that their representatives will not go to Bahrain and will comment on the race from their headquarters.

Regarding the Williams employee, she did not want to attend for moral reasons, namely that F1 should not be politicized by the local government. Both parties decided to terminate their contract since the person in question had initially agreed to attend the 20 races of the 2012 world championship.

The decision was important for the team because, if it didn’t make it, it risked setting a precedent that could have led other team employees to make the same decision. Therefore, it had to demonstrate zero tolerance on the issue.
