Friday: Glock Confident and Pic Frustrated at Marussia
Disrupted by the rain, the tight schedule of the Russian team could not be started in the best possible way. The feel of the car is quite good, although Charles Pic would have preferred to drive for longer.
Timo Glock: 21st and 12th
« I think it was a difficult start to the weekend due to the weather conditions, we had to be quite cautious. It was great for everyone to see the car out and running well. In FP1, I already had a pretty good feeling but we were unlucky because we could only do one timed lap. During FP2, it was difficult at the beginning again, but in the dry my feeling was very positive and it was nice to be able to follow Red Bull for more than three laps! When I got back to the garage, I was a bit surprised to see myself in 12th position, which means absolutely nothing at this point in time, but at the same time it means a lot for everyone who has worked so hard during the winter and has gone through tough times. There were a few smiles in the garage, which is nice to see. Let’s wait and see what the rest of the weekend has in store for us. »
Charles Pic: 22nd and 22nd
« We have a lot to learn with the new car, so today, I was in for a real challenge to start my first season. The rain really disrupted our plans, but we had a few stints in the dry, and that means we have a feel for the car and some data to start working on it. My first impressions of the car are positive. We need to drive as much as possible, and we didn’t do as many laps as I would have wanted, but we did enough to see if there were any issues with the car, and there aren’t any so far, so that’s positive. It’s a good start, and I’m happy. »
