What is the new nickname for Vettel’s Red Bull?
The double reigning world champion, Sebastian Vettel, has named his new car Abbey.
It has become a custom at Red Bull in Sebastian Vettel’s garage. The young German driver names all his single-seaters with a nickname, often humorous, but with no particular meaning.
He had, for example, nicknamed Luscious Liz in 2010, the single-seater that had allowed him to win his first world championship title.
Last year, the RB8 was christened Kinky Kylie by the German champion, with the same success, that is, winning the title at the end of the season.
This year, Vettel has chosen to call his car Abbey. Is it a reference to the famous corner of the Silverstone circuit? Is he a fan of the Beatles’ album Abbey Road? None of that, confirms Sebastian. It’s just a cool name.
No logical explanation for these names, except perhaps a bit of superstition.
