As last week, the teams meet at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona for the third and final week of private testing before the season’s first Grand Prix on March 18 in Australia. These last tests will be an opportunity for Lotus to return to the track after the problems encountered by the Enstone team, which forced them not to drive last week.

All teams will be there except Marussia, which announced during the week that it failed one of the FIA crash tests, and HRT, whose presence remains the big unknown of these tests. Nevertheless, for this first day on the track, it will be Mark Webber, Jenson Button, Felipe Massa, Nico Rosberg, Romain Grosjean, Paul di Resta, Sergio Pérez, Jean-Eric Vergne, Pastor Maldonado, and Heikki Kovalainen who will drive.

You can see the Barcelona private testing schedule for more information about the week’s proceedings.

Highlights

11:18: Button hits the track on hard tires and takes the provisional best time with 1:23.510.

12:59: Sergio Perez stops his Sauber C31 on the track and causes a red flag: a planned fuel shortage by Sauber is the cause.

16:34: Romain Grosjean makes a move and improves the best time of the day previously held by Button. 1:23.252 for the Lotus driver on soft tires.

4:50 PM: Vitaly Petrov causes a red flag by stopping his Caterham CT01 on the track. No information on the reason for this stop.
