Mark Webber is not thinking about retirement
As the 2012 Formula 1 season has not yet begun, Mark Webber already expresses his desire to continue in motorsport for as long as he can compete.

The career of the Australian in Formula 1 seemingly took off during the 2009 season, especially when Sebastian Vettel joined the ranks of Red Bull Racing. Thanks to a technological gem named the RB5, which would be the only one to challenge the dominance of Brawn GP, Mark Webber achieved his first victory at the German Grand Prix at the age of 32.
Subsequently, he will actively participate in the two titles won by the Austrian team, although he was overshadowed by his teammate. Author of 7 victories and 9 pole positions, Webber wants to be a real contender for the win and the title, and that’s why he doesn’t plan to hang up his helmet at the end of 2012: « I don’t envision retiring anytime soon! Unfortunately, I know that nothing is eternal. But that’s four years ago, and according to the media, I was supposed to be replaced by Kimi Räikkönen », said the 35-year-old driver, still within the paddock.
Even though he holds a rather comfortable position within the reigning world champion team, Mark Webber does not hide his 2011 campaign, deemed rather disappointing (he finished 3rd, 134 points behind his teammate): « I clearly could have done a better job. The start of the year was tough, which made the rest of the season difficult. I learned from it and today I’ve moved on. I want to continue! »
In 2011, the great Mark won only one race compared to 11 for Vettel, who also set the record of 15 pole positions in a single season. Nevertheless, it seems that the winter break allowed him to reflect and start fresh: « After the victory in Brazil, I think it’s one of the best breaks I’ve ever had. This break really did me good, and it hadn’t happened in a long time. I feel rejuvenated and regenerated to start the championship! », concluded the native of Queanbeyan, determined to continue his career.
