di Montezemolo: F1 must stay in Europe
Formula 1 has been continuously expanding internationally for several years, but Luca di Montezemolo believes that Europe must retain an important place in this new global F1 landscape.

Bernie Ecclestone believes that Formula 1 could almost do without Europe in the coming years, suggesting that a maximum of five Grand Prix could take place on European soil in the future to allow F1 to visit new countries.
But Luca di Montezemolo, the head of Ferrari, believes on the contrary that F1 cannot do without Europe because that is where it was born and where most of the teams are based.
« Maintaining the importance of Europe in Formula 1 is very important. It’s great to see F1 going to India, Russia, South Korea, the Middle East, and of course the United States, but we must not lose our tradition and history in Europe, especially when we see that some new circuits are not as good as Spa, for example. We must be careful not to dilute the image of Formula 1, » said Luca di Montezemolo.
Luca di Montezemolo also expressed his delight at the return of Formula 1 to the United States in 2012, as the land of Uncle Sam is an important automotive market, especially for Ferrari.
“D) I am very happy about the possibility of going to the United States again. It was strange that F1 was visiting so many countries, but not the largest car market in the world, » added the Ferrari boss.
